Who owns your e-mail address? | Perspectives | CNET News.com
This article starts out with some interesting statements. The one that caught my eye was the dire prediction that spam, if left unchecked, could make e-mail as we know it useless and discourage those who aren't online to get online.
Then Mark takes the article down the road of personal property rights…therefore the title. Personally I believe that your e-mail address is yours. If you pay your ISP for access and e-mail is included, you are in a sense renting that name…like an apartment. This hasn't been tried in court, but I think it is an interesting take on the arguement.
