Teleportation breakthrough made
“Beam me up Scotty”. We've said it jokingly for years, but now we're one step closer. Sure it's a small step, only an atom, but “a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”. Additionally the implications for quantum computing are also important. Many of today's scientific problems are held back by computing power (or the lack of it), hence the growing popularity of “grid computing” like the SETI@home project.
Away team to Enterprise. Three to beam aboard.
Scientists teleport the properties of one atom to another without using any physical link – a development that may lead to ultra-fast computing.
