Stronger WLAN security standard approved

With this standard being ratified, Wi-Fi will start getting more secure. Though, it is hotspots where I think there is still a security gap. I wonder how hotspot operators will implement security, if at all. Given that the idea of hotspots is to connect quickly and easily, putting up security barrier goes against the grain. So I think devices like some I wrote about earlier this week, will become more common for business folks who want do connect to hotspots and do “real work”.

SAN FRANCISCO – The IEEE 802.11i specification, the latest set of rules to bolster security on wireless LANs, has received final approval, according to a co-author of the standard.
