Shared Spaces Research & Consulting: A Reply to the Radicati Response, Aug 6

Who says there's no intrigue on the Internet anymore? Now, I'm not a fan of either Notes or Exchange, but I do like Michael's writing and take on these topics, and this seems to be the story that just keeps going. My post on this Radicati paper, the fallout, and the subsequent META group paper were my top articles in July and the META group and Radicati fallout are the #1 and #3 in the last seven days.

Here's a bit of my perspective. I wonder how many people are guilty of feeling defensive that they chose one path for their company, but now are regretting it somehow. Maybe they have stuck with Exchange all these years, kludging systems together making things work and might be jealous of Notes a bit. Or vice versa. I know organisations start to have real vested interests, egos on the line, when it comes to these decisions. It certainly felt that way when GlaxoSmithKline became a Notes shop. Lots of Exchange die-hards were grumbling (lots of users too), but the former-SB folks who liked Note were happy. The rumour was that the new IT management (former SB) just really preferred Notes and had a whole KM and collaboration system built around it. Glaxo didn't have a global scale program, so Notes won, to then give the company this tool.

In any case, Michael has great responses to the posts and counter posts. I also like the sleuthing on who the “mystery poster” is from 64.174.88.168. What can I say, I'm a mystery novel addict.

I've been quite astounded by the war of words that has erupted over the recent Radicati Group report, and the tactics followed by members of the Radicati Group staff in the blogosphere. The purpose of this post is to outline my response to Dr. Radicati's response as posted on Eric Mack's site, and to give you my theory as to who is behind the second-wave of blog comments and email intimidations.
