Questioning SharePoint from the Telework Times
I have yet to read the article cited, but I certainly support the sentiment. Too often IT department choose what is convenient, instead of really looking for what meats the real needs of users. Often, I've found, the “pilot” stage is really just “pre-implementation testing”. If it were me, I would have several small pilot groups of a few users and test several applications. Maybe a SharePoint, SocialText, OpenText, etc. Then see what actually works instead of saying…okay the pilot showed us that we'll need a lot of additional training to get SharePoint users working effectively…how about, hmm SharePoint looks like it is going to need a lot of training, but SocialText people got right away. Imagine that, thinking about your end users. What a concept.
