  • Version 3.0 of Oracle Collaboration Suite (due 4Q2004) will add instant messaging services and collaborative work spaces (accessible from other messaging and collaboration applications via a Web services API). eWeek
  • Scalix released Version 9.0 of its namesake Linux-based email and calendaring platform. New features: expanded desktop client support (Outlook 2003, Ximian Evolution and Scalix Web Access), Web browser-based remote management, archiving support, integration with Active Directory, and certification for SuSE Linux.   • Key problems with “mobile collaboration” (ie, web conferencing, application sharing and IM over wireless and mobile networks): the lack of ubiquitous fast mobile networks, unreliable service delivery, poor pricing structures for WiFi networks, among others.   • Vodafone NZ put delivery dates on the release of the RIM BlackBerry wireless solution in New Zealand: the corporate version will be available mid-July, and the Individual version “later this year”. The Vodafone Personal web site also has a link to the BlackBerry descriptor pages. scoop.co.nz
