Breakthrough for Groove?

Could this be a pivotal breakthrough for Groove? One of my biggest problems with Groove is the duplication of the inbox. When I was on Groove I had my Lotus Notes mailbox and my Groove mailbox. Unfortunately not everyone was on Groove, so sending messages through it were pretty pointless. But even if everyone is on Groove, you need to have the connectivity with the Enterprise e-mail and Groove. Only the techiest of us wouldn't mind having an additional messaging platform to manage. I tried the Outlook connector for Groove (alpha or early beta at the time) and I thought it was a good step, but not quite enough. The real key is that 100% tie-in with Groove's messaging and the Enterprise messaging.

We have enough sources of information hitting us (some of us more than others, by choice), we don't really need additional messaging platforms too.

Groove to make connection with Casahl

Collaboration software maker Groove Networks plans to announce a deal next week with Casahl Technology. Through the deal, Groove aims to improve integration between its desktop collaboration software and back-end systems such as e-mail and packaged applications. Software maker Casahl has built a “connector” to Groove's tools for building front-end applications, which will make it easier for application developers to tap into corporate data, Groove said.

The Casahl ecKnowledge Groove connector is designed to work with Groove Virtual Office version 3.0 and is expected to be available in September. A beta, or test version, of the program is slated to launch the first week of August.
