My friend Joey was laid off from b5 recently and has landed at what might seem like an unlikely place—Microsoft: Company Man (or: The New Job). Before people start checking for flying pigs or Satanic snowball fights, look at his rational. His new job lets him:

Do great work.
Have that work spread far and wide.
Earn a fair reward for my effort.

Yeah I don’t think that’s too much to ask or flawed, in fact I’m pretty much at the same point in my life.

As all you readers know, all 12 of you, I’ve been taking stock since leaving b5 in July. I’ve also mused on grappling with the bittersweet nature of answering the questions of how and what I’m doing. My last post on blogging made me pause and think that it’s time for a little update on things.

Interesting summer, moving to fall now, I’ve been having. The Chinese curse “May you live in interesting times” comes to mind.
Yes, I did finally go on vacation. Something which was long overdue. Yes, the house on Salt Spring was sold, which was a bittersweet moment. Even with those things taken into account, since May-ish things have been interesting.
Which gets me to the title of the post.
