Let’s keep looking forward here with some computer resolutions for 2011. I’ll keep it simple with just 5 things to do in this new year. Ready?
- Backup. Yeah, yeah, I know I said it’s a lost cause, but that was during the holidays with family. Doesn’t matter if it’s in the cloud or local (or both like I do), just do it.
- Update. Set your machine to check automatically, accept them when they come up, and just do it.
- Sync your devices regularly. This pairs up with item 1, when you sync you also get a backup of your device on your machine (which should then also get backed up). We keep so much of our lives on our devices, not to mention all the money we’ve all invested in apps, that it’s essential to sync your phone often. I think daily is best, but a few times a week is okay. Monthly? That just doesn’t cut it.
- Teach someone a new trick. All of us have tech tricks up our sleeves, so share them now and then. It’s a good thing to share.
- Have a tech-free day once a week. I don’t know how I’m going to pull this off, but I really want to have at least one day a week as tech free as possible.
See, I told you these would be simple. Have a good one.
