- Lots of geeks like Scrabble
- Lots of geeks like/have iPads
- Geeks like to show off the bizarre words we know
- Geeks need to get out more
- Geeks like having fun together
Okay I think that lays the ground work for an
Tweetup.
But there’s a problem.
Scrabble.
See the game, while it is awesome, costs $10 and I don’t know if folks would be willing to shuck that out for their iPads.
Why not use the real, board game version? Uh huh. Who’s going to a) do the math and b) decide the dictionary and c) referee the “that’s not a word…” arguments?
Scrabble on the iPad is simple. Up to four people can play. The computer keeps score and if it say it is/isn’t a word, that’s it.
So here’s my idea. Let’s see if EA Vancouver would sponsor the Tweetup. If you don’t have the game, ta da! coupon for the game. If you do have the game, ta da! coupon (or $10 iTunes card) as a thank you.
I bet we could get a Blenz to be the venue (I think a cafe is a much better venue for a Scrabble Tweetup than a bar).
Here’s where you come in. I think we need to get EA’s attention on this. I know they are on Twitter. I sent out a Tweet that said:
So @therealscrabble & @eamobile how about sponsoring a Vancouver iPad Scrabble Tweetup? (pls RT)
If you like the idea you can click to send a tweet that says: “We should have an iPad Scrabble Tweetup in Vancouver sponsored by @therealscrabble and @eamobile (Pls RT)”. I think once we get their attention we can work on the date, venue, and time.
You Game?
