You all know that I a) read a ton of RSS feeds (probably over 600 now…and happy to add more) and b) love Nick Bradbury’s FeedDemon as my reader of choice. One of the things about being subscribed to that many feeds that after a couple days, the number of unread items tends to get a little intense.
Nick has a great solution for this and he’s called it a panic button:
If you’ve been reading feeds for a while, chances are you’ve experienced feed overload. It happens to the best of us. Perhaps we take a break for a day or two, and when we come back to our aggregator we find hundreds of unread items waiting for us.
Even though we don’t have to read them all, we’re so used to email that it’s still stressful seeing so many unread items. That’s when it’s time to hit the panic button. Source: Nick Bradbury: Feed Overload? Hit the Panic Button!
This is Nick’s screenshot…I should have taken one of what I saw because when I loaded FeedDemon 2.6RC2 I had almost 6000 unread items, after I hit the panic button, almost 4000 were gone:
When I get to the level I was at this evening, I usually just set FD to only show the last 48hrs anyway so this really makes things easier. Great new feature Nick!
