Remember PubSub? Once the darling of all us info junkies (especially if our drug of choice was RSS), it imploded about a year ago. A real shame because, frankly, it was a cool tool that certainly saved me a ton of time finding references to my sites, me, and my clients. Well word is that maybe something like PubSub might be coming back:
Something Simpler, a Vancouver-based start-up, has acquired the assets (including intellectual property) of RSS company PubSub, which after a promising start flailed and fell out of favor. The deal involves IP, equipment, brands & trademarks, but not the company. According to our sources, this is an equity-for-assets deal, and one of PubSub investors, Polygon, is also investing in Something Simpler. Source: GigaOM Something Simpler Acquires PubSub Assets ?
Stealthy Vancouver startup Something Simpler is rumoured to be coming out with something cool to help us manage information. Several familiar names on the list of folks tied to Something Simpler, including Lance Tracey who also has ties to hosting company Peer1 and Bryght.
Given the brain trust in and around Vancouver that the founders of Something Simpler can tap into (not just developers, but testers and beta users) I expect that some interesting things could be coming from the IP that they have picked up from PubSub.
