On WordCamp, laptops, and working from backup plans

When we last left our hero…

Love saying that.  Regardless, on Sunday the AC adapter for my laptop died.  Like toast.  Actually I think I could have made toast from the heat it gave off as it died!  As it turns out my HP laptop seems to be the only one that doesn’t have a third party adapter available for it.  Oh, I looked, believe me.  Luckily I bought an extra year of coverage from Staples when I bought the laptop about a year and a half ago.  So…my (electronic) baby is off for repair.  Well the laptop is fine, I just need one freakin’ part!  You’d think they’d just order it for me …

WordCamp was an amazing, lots of cool info and cool people.  Next year?  For sure!

Now you might be wondering how I’m getting anything done without my primary machine.  Honestly I’m at about 3/4 efficiency right now.  The desktop machine, usually reserved for the kids or computerless guests, is where I’m working at the moment.  I tell you I’m glad all my e-mail goes through gmail!  Haven’t lost communications.  Documents?  Well I know those are safely backed up with Carbonite.  Yes, I’m missing a few things at the moment, but I’m dealing.  Blogging, of course no problem.  Here I’m using Scribefire, for some reason I can’t get LiveWriter to connect up here.

This is why I had a lot of posts up on various blogs last week, and pretty much nothing this week.  I’m trying to catch up now.  Trying being the operative word.
