Pay-Per-Post buys Performancing, thinking about deleting my account

Yesterday's news (Techcrunch and ProBlogger), formally announced to today by Pay-Per-Post, PPP is buying Performancing except for the Firefox blog editing plugin and the Ad Partners network.? This really troubles me.? I haven't been a fan of Pay-Per-Post.? Just didn't like the way advertisers could buy positive reviews and bloggers didn't have to disclose paid posts.? Yes, they are changing their stripes, but still this just doesn't sit well with me.

I really don't like my metrics being used by them to market to me to use their service.? Yes, I know Performancing was starting their own ad network, but I knew those guys and talked with them.? I was cool with what they were doing.? Pay-Per-Post?? Not so much.

I'm going to mull it over for a while, but I really think my time for using Performancing metrics is drawing to a close.? I still have Google Analytics and I hear the BlogBeat is inching its way into FeedBurner, that could be good (I seem to remember trying and liking them).

I hear you – I was a wee bit saddened that PayPerPost was buying Performancing. Something about that just leaves a funny taste in my mouth. :-(
I'm curious to see what happens next.

Well Jules you might take heart that the BlogBeat stats that are in beta on FeedBurner look pretty good. After I posted this folks from BlogBeat and FeedBurner activated the beta on my account. Look for a review next week (I need more data to judge).

I'm going to leave the jury open on that for a while. Though I'm not pleased that a true to the colors, grassroots business blogging outfit like Performancing would condescend to associating with the likes of PayPerPost, I'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater. As long as Metrics serves a need, I'll probably keep using it.

    Hey Paul, Happy New Year!
My problem with keeping the metrics is that PPP gets a lot of data about my blog for their marketing purposes. This was okay when it was all Performancing, but PPP, nope.
My looksee at the FB/BlogBeat metrics is almost complete (pity I'm looking at such a low traffic time). While it certainly doesn't have the depth and such of Performancing, I like the Dashboard and basic information. I'll be deleting my Performancing profiles very soon.
If PPP wants my traffic data, they can get the estimates from publically available sources.
